<h3>Occupational Description</h3><br>An APRN-NP is an individual who holds a basic RN license with additional education in a population focus such as family care, adult-gerontology, neonatal, pediatrics, women’s health, or psychiatric mental health, is certified in that focus area, and holds an APRN license in Nebraska. In addition to the RN scope of practice and within the APRN practice role, an APRN-NP’s practice can include conducting advanced assessment; ordering and interpreting diagnostic procedures; establishing primary and differential diagnoses; prescribing, ordering, administering, and furnishing therapeutic measures; delegating and assigning therapeutic measures to assistive personnel; and consulting with other disciplines and providing referrals to health care agencies, health care providers, and community resources.<br><h3>Licensure Requirements</h3><br>A person may practice as a APRN-NP in Nebraska only if he or she holds a Nebraska license or atemporary permit.Applicants must:1. Be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska, or have the authority to practice in this state as aRegistered Nurse pursuant to the provisions of the Nurse Licensure Compact;2. Have a masters’ degree, post-masters’ certificate, or doctoral degree;3. Have successfully completed 30 contact hours of education in pharmacotherapeutics;4. Pass the NCLEX-PN®;5. Pay the appropriate fee;6. Submit to a criminal background check;7. Be either a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted into the United States who is eligiblefor a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrant who is lawfully present inthe United States and who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act.<br><h3>Fees</h3><br>APRN License Fee- $68.00 RN License Fee- $123.00 Criminal Background Check- $45.25 Certification Fees- vary by national certification body standards.<br><h3>Renewal</h3><br>APRN and RN licenses must be renewed by October 31 of each even-numbered year. The renewal fee is $68.00 for the APRN license, and $123.00 for the RN license.
