Certification: Rain Screen Systems
Rainscreen walls and rain screen systems have grown to become some of the most popular building enclosure choices today. This program investigates the building science and evolution of the masonry wall beginning with mass walls, drainage, and cavity walls and concluding with pressurized and non-pressurized rain screen systems. Attendees to this program will learn specific details of common terra cotta, porcelain and composite panel systems operating as a rain screen. The use of terracotta and porcelain in architecture and its application to screen walls will also be discussed. Participants will learn systems and techniques for a successful installation using screen wall technology and constructible details.
The hands-on component will demonstrate the prep work that is required before the rain screen system is applied. This will included air and vapor barriers and insulation. There will be a written test. All attendees will receive a binder of information and successful attendees will receive a certificate.
